Leo is Head of Educational Partnerships for iCanStudy and a School Support and Evaluation Officer for the CIS. He is a popular writer and speaker on transforming education.

Leo Thompson is committed to transforming education in a way that helps children to become their best selves. Head of Educational Partnerships for iCanStudy and a School Support and Evaluation Officer for the Council of International Schools, Leo is a former IB teacher and IB school head, popular writer and speaker.

He also enjoys designing useful infographics, such as the iconic Inclusion Umbrella. To help children live fulfilling lives and negotiate its hurdles, Leo believes that every child should leave school equipped with a powerpack of 3 essentials: great learning-to-learn skills, social-emotional skills and communication skills – nurtured in a culture of love, kindness and health. He is delighted to be part of this conference and excited to share, learn and connect.

    This presentation will zoom in on educational futures research and link it directly to ‘learning how to learn’ neuroscience, answering the question: what are the mindset and skills that students need to be able to learn independently and most effectively and why? As head of Educational Partnerships at iCanStudy, Leo will share some incredible insights into what is possible to help children and adults thrive.

  • 12:00  - 14:00
    Following on from Leo’s day 1 presentation, this very practical workshop will apply neuroscience and involve participants in an interactive experience in which they will walk away with new learnings and new skills.

    These skills will help participants take their ability to learn to the next level as they begin to integrate it into a metacognitive, self-regulating, experiential, higher-order learning framework which they can use as part of a tool kit for life. Built on the research of gamechangers, iCanStudy, this taster session will leave you wanting to go further down the rabbit hole of powerful learning skills, which can be fully experienced in iCanStudies' training program - already with many complimentary resources on the Internet.

    Leo is looking forward to a fun session with his participants on a topic closely aligned with social-emotional learning.
